Zafira Kerias
It had been maybe 5 months after the murder. Nobody was yet elected. Christmas time was coming and the Council of Elders and few known people from the West Sanctuary were coming to the East. In the past few months Zafira had met several people. Jev Kylar was one. He was an Adept with a strange power. Using blood he can heal-or kill, anyone. Strange. Yet the power had been helpful. The idiot who murdered the Grand Mage was in the Gaol. Anyone who walked past the guy's cage would have liked to beat him up but nobody did. The Cleavers were watching. Zafira did not like Cleavers. She wandered to the meeting room where the Council used to meet. A voice from behind made her jump,
"Thinking of the murder?" The voice asked. Zafira turned shadows ready. She relaxed seeing Jev. Tall and wearing his usual black pants and grey sweater.
"No thinking of what will happen once the others from the West arrive. It'll be American history in the making. A brand new Council." Zafira smiled. She liked Jev. He reminded her of one Necromancer. Jev shook his head,
"They wouldn't pick me. Not unless someone wanted to be killed. But you are a Necromancer. You can sense death around you." He said a sadistic smile on his face. Zafira sighed. She hated being picked out because of her choice to study Necromancy.
"As you know I can sense death. But I only can tell because my object gets extremly cold. Anyone of us can." She told him. It was common to be singled out with new people but why was he questioning her power now? They'd known each other for a while. Everyone else accepted Zafira even despite her magic. Then again, Jev was strange. He smiled slightly,
"I always was interested with you Necromancers. Always wanted to know how you guys did what you do." He laughs. Zafira shrugged. Someone burst in, Ari.
Ari grinned, "Guys the West people are here." She said. Minutes later they appeared. Zafira nodded greeting to the Council. They all regonized her as a Necromancer but nobody really cared. It was...peculiar. The Grand Mage was a woman named, Jadeth Gore. She called everyone together. The Council would not vote but it was present to meet the new East Council. Gore looked around, "Well as we know its time to elect a new Council in the East...so let us begin." She declared. Ari stood up,
"What about Violette as Grand Mage?" She asked. Violette looked stunned.
"No. Just no." Violette said quietly. Many people argued until someone spoke above the others,
"Zafira Kerias should be Grand Mage." The voice was Jev's. Agreement rose among everyong Gore broke in,
"What?! Are you insane? Trusting a Necromancer in such a position?" She exclaimed saying 'Necromancer' like a curse. Someone told her to shut up. Outvoted Gore glared Zafira spoke up.
"I'll be Grand Mage. I would like Violette and Jev to be my Elders." She said. The two chosen jumped,
"Why me?!" Violette asked shocked. Jev shook his head,
"Thats...uncalled for. I'll do it." He muttered. Violette looked uneasy reluctantly she nodded.
"Fine..." She said. Gore stood up nodded to the new Council. She stormed off with her own Elders. Zafira was left with everyone. Zafira looked at the others in a daze.
"Unexpected. Right. I'll meet with the Elders to discuss things. Everyone working here can continue. I want the West Council escorted." She said. The Cleavers left to do their duty. Everyone went back to their duties and things. Greeting the new Council. Zafira turned to the other Elders,
"Now we deal with...foreign Sanctuaries." She sighed.

Zafira Kerias
Well my attempt at fanfiction. I decided to travel back to the days leading up to Zafira becoming Grand Mage. How it happened and who elected her. Yup takes place mostly in America. So my out of country friends...you learning.
Part 1: The Murder
Zafira walked through the shadowy corridors of the Temple. After experiencing the Surge a few years back she was permitted outside the Temple. In the recent months Zafira had taken part in the fight between multiple people. As America was so large there were two of everything. In the East Coast there was a Temple and Sanctuary. The East Coast Sanctuary mostly was known and worked with any other countries. In the West Coast there was a Temple and the West Coast Sanctuary. The two Councils conversed often. They both worked to keep mortals safe. Though in the past few months mages were fighting. An attack was led on the East Coast Sanctuary. Normally Zafira and her fellow Necromancers would not fight. They did as the fighters threatened them. Zafira was chosen to find out happenings outside the Temple in case rumors of attacking the Necromancers would come true. The High Priest would make Zafira a Cleric as it was dangerous for any of them to venture out.
The nightly air was cold. Pennsylvania in the winter was cold. Typical. It was many years later after the beginnings. Nobody knew what to do. Zafira was in town with the few mages in the area. Ari's house was tiny but fit in well in the town. There were five in attendance including Zafira. Ari stood up from her chair. She was tiny with wavy brown hair. An Elemental of course. Nearly all were. She turned to everyone,
"We must be careful. Just over the border in New Jersey there was a fight. The Sanctuary is in New York City. We cannot let this get bad. I know you guys arent too keen but, we should join up with the Sanctuary people." Ari told them. Zafira glared. It took all her strength not to flip out.
"So , Ari, if we team up do you expect them to let me? After all not many like Necromancers." Zafira pointed out non too kind. Ari's brother spoke his voice soft,
"Zafira, you are different. Your brothers and sisters hide in the Temples and are stuck up. You meet none of the standards most would think of when the name 'Necromancer' is mentioned." He told her. Aimer was not one to be nice to others he had a soft spot for Zafira, the others murmered agreement with Aimer. Zafira sighed,
"When should we head out? I can only shadow walk so far." Her eyes shifted to the necklace she wore. Her power was stored there. Ari smirked,
"Tomorrow. Zafira you should probably get that Cleaver scythe you stole." Ari said laughing. Zafira grinned. She got a scythe off a dead Cleaver and used it when necessary. The meeting broke up. Zafira left the house and walked to the end of the street, hiding among the darkness she shadow walked to the cemetery. She silently walked and entered the Temple. Cleric Hill was waiting for her right by her room.
"What?!" Zafira snapped. It was midnight. She was tired and was leaving early. Hill glared,
"Respect authority, Zafira. What are you doing back so late?' Hill demanded. Zafira ignored the Cleric.
"If you like to see the Death Bringer be found I suggest you leave me alone." Zafira responded coldly. She never lied. She killed four people who annoyed her in the Temple. Yet nobody knew the truth. Not even the High Priest. Hill stalked off. Zafira was a demon best of times. Laughing quietly she fell asleep.
It had been months after their arrival. Gai was dead and Ari seriously wounded. The four were together fighting along with every person. Zafira was welcomed easily by the others. Her natural instinct in fighting and strategy was helpful. She had been given permission to arrest the ones instigating the attacks. One of the offcials often watched her. Violette Lee Profit. An Adept. Zafira watched Violette in battle. Shape shifter. The Council of Elders were discussing war tactics. This was safe from the international community. Grand Mage Tylo was in full debate. Violette and Zafira often strategized together with the Elders. The two were watching out today for attack. Elder Kyl was dead.
That was known. The Grand Mage had not found anyone. Zafira jumped,
"Attack." She breathed. She shadow walked to the two living Elders debating.
"Attack!!!!!!!!!!" she Yelled and it was there that it all happened. Zafira locked on battle with an Elemental the Elders fighting too. Before the Cleavers or even Violette could shift an attacker killed the Grand Mage. Zafira saw a blur of grey and Cleavers brought down the killer. He'd be in the Gaol. No question. Violette and Zafira fought anyone against them. Finally she saw the last person arrested or driven out. Elder Pio shook his head.
"I cannot be on the Council. Those of us around must...vote a new Council." He declared. Zafira went pale. History. In the making......
